TENWEST returns in-person after a two-year break to reignite Tucson’s innovation ecosystem with new partners, content, and experiences

June 28, 2022 (Tucson, Arizona)— TENWEST Impact Festival presented by Startup Tucson and UA Center for Innovation will return in-person this fall from November 1 – 5, 2022. Back after a two-year break, the Festival brings together local, regional, and national attendees to focus on solutions for creating social, environmental, and economic impact.

Through exhibitions, talks, art, and interactive experiences, TENWEST Impact Festival aims to promote and foster a culture of innovation and sustainability that converges committed community innovators, artists, organizations, and stakeholders and celebrates Tucson’s creative arts and business ecosystem.

Thanks to Festival sponsor Arizona Commerce Authority, this year’s Festival will include the addition of a hyper-local block party with regional live music and vendors, the first ever Capital Conference, a two-part Sonoran Desert Sustainable Summit with an introduction at HOCO Fest 2022 (September 3) and in partnership with the Southern Arizona Coalition for Climate Adaptation and Resilience, a full-day of inspirational lectures and educational workshops for creatives, and the addition of TENWESTx entertainment every evening.

2022 marks the 6th year of the Festival and 25th year anniversary of Idea Funding, Southern Arizona’s largest and longest running entrepreneurship conference and pitch competition with a main-stage prize of $25,000. The University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) is joining as a co-lead of the festival because of the synergy and enhanced entrepreneurial ecosystem the two organizations bring. "We are thrilled to co-lead the 2022 TENWEST Impact Festival with Startup Tucson. UACI is the long-standing lead organizer of Ideafunding, which is the nucleus of the TENWEST and we are looking forward to fostering the impact startup innovation has in the world throughout the festival," said Smith, Executive Director of the University of Arizona Center for Innovation. "This partnership is a natural next step in our joint service to the entrepreneurial community of Southern Arizona," Smith said. To help bring the Festival to new audiences, TENWEST is partnering on production with the Ranch House Media team, producers of the recent Pueblos del Maiz, Agave Heritage Festival, and upcoming HOCO Fest.

“We’re so excited to be bringing TENWEST back to the community this year,” said Liz Pocock, CEO of Startup Tucson. “With UACI as a co-lead and Ranch House Media on the production side, the focus will be to ensure all attendees get to connect with each other and interact with innovation in-person again. These types of collisions are what TENWEST was built upon.”

The festival will feature multiple venues throughout downtown Tucson, with three of the five days held at the recently renovated north wing of the Tucson Convention Center. The Festival consists of free, general admission and add-on events. Tickets go on-sale in early fall.
